The history of PAC can be described as a journey of discovery. A journey to discover how to bring different people together to pursue a common purpose. A journey to discover how to balance life with a have a full time job in the secular world and be the hands and feet of Jesus to your housemates and neighbors. PAC began wanting to discover what it meant to die to oneself and what it meant to try to be faithful to Jesus and his mission in the face of incredible odds.
It was in the winter of 2004 that Brandon Wall and Tony Jackson began to dream about this journey of discovery. Only a few shorts months later (May 2006), Brandon and his wife Philly, Tony Jackson, Brooke Stafford, Jesse Nigro, Matt Miller, and Kylee Breems began meeting in the Wall’s house to form what become the first members of PAC. In August of 2006, PAC purchased a huge Victorian house on 30th Ave, just one black north of Park Avenue. Since that time, all have moved on in good status to pursue things like marriage and careers (most members only have a one year commitment). But with new additions come new chapters in PAC’s history.
PAC launched it first official ministry in the spring of 2008. The basic idea of the ministry was to bring a T.V. outside along with video games and just start playing. The hope was that the many kids in the neighborhood would come over and begin to build relationships. To the house’s surprise, this actually worked. For a long time PAC had kids at the door, ringing the doorbell wanting to play. PAC also developed seasonal parties for the children.
The number of children in the Park Avenue Neighborhood has declined recently and PAC is currently praying for new opportunities to serve the neighborhood.
