Q:What is an intentional community?
A: This may vary from one community to another. (working on)
Q:How did PAC get started?
A: See history of PAC
Q:What is the Mission of PAC?
A: See Philosophy and Mission of PAC
Q:How does someone start an Intentional community?
A: This should not be a decision made quickly. Intentional community can be very difficult, for you are asking people to die to themselves in a culture where the “Me” is all there is. Do not rush to make it happen, for many mistakes take place when we allow our emotions and passions to dictate our choices. Also, you must keep in mind that to develop a strong community it takes many years. If you do not have several years to dedicate to this project, then it maybe best that you not start a community house. Having good intentions without diligent planning can ruin many friendships. For these reasons you must be on your knees praying. Pray that God would give you wisdom, foresight, leadership skills, a passion for the poor, and a willingness to sever others when you rather not. Pray that God would cultivate the virtues of prudence, temperance, courage, and justices so that you may live happier with each member of the house.
If you can honestly say that God is still calling you to start an intentional community, it is best that you get in contact with another community house to guide you through the steps. Some community houses may be better or worse for advice. PAC suggests finding a house that is well organized and that has been around for several years. You can find different communities around America at www.communityofcommunities.info
Q:What is the hardest part of living in community?
A: Your self.
Q:What is the best part?
A: The relationships that are cultivated through dieing to the self.
Q:What kind of ministries do you have?
A: See Ministry link
Q:How can outsiders get involved?
A: You can get started by joining us in our children’s ministries (see ministry page), you can signup for our quarterly newsletter for any events coming up, begin praying for the house and neighborhood, come and join us in fellowship (please call ahead), or begin donating funds to support us.
Q:How can someone join the community?
A: Let us know you are interested ASAP. When an opening in the house occurs, we will contact you about the opening.
Q:How can one support PAC?
A: You can begin by praying for the house and neighborhood. You can take our PAC $10 challenge. This challenge asks that you donate $10 a month. You can also give a one-time donation. You can write us a check and send it to 1122 S 30th Ave. Omaha, NE 68105.
Q:What does PAC do with its money?
A: Luckily for PAC, it does not take a great deal of money to run our organization. For this reason, PAC only has to raise a small amount each year. The money that we raise goes to a variety of areas. Some of these areas are our children’s ministry (our annual parties and our video game ministry in the spring and summer), repairs on the house, our 501(c)3 cost (this is our non-profit fees), administration cost, purchasing the house, and our emergency funds.
Q:Is PAC a 501c3?
A: Almost. As soon as we achieve this status, we will be able to give tax deductions to those that give.
